Letter: Byrd supports law enforcement for a safe community

I have watched in dismay in recent months about the treatment of law enforcement officers in this country. The great, vast majority of those men and women who wear a badge are simply trying to perform an already difficult job and make it home to their families at the end of the day. Sumter County Councilman Jimmy Byrd understands the importance of a strong police presence for the safety and wellbeing of our community. A county is only as safe to the degree that laws are enforced. Being a state constable himself, Jimmy Byrd understands the importance of safe communities. I am supporting Jimmy Byrd because he is supporting us.
