Keith "Sweat" Hunter, 64, transitioned peacefully from this earthly life to eternal rest early Tuesday morning, May 23, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter. He was born on Dec. 18, 1958, in Sumter County, the fourth younger son of the late Wyatt and Mary Harris Hunter.

Keith, affectionately called "Keith Sweat" by his family and friends, graduated from Hillcrest High School in Dalzell. In his early years, Keith worked at DuPont as a certified welder. He was also a certified painter and also worked in the construction industry alongside his brothers. An unfortunate accident would leave him permanently disabled and no longer able to work.

Keith enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his siblings. He loved and cherished each moment with them. Even after the accident, it wasn't unusual to find Keith stopping by to help a friend. He enjoyed people and never missed an opportunity to have a conversation with anyone.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his older brothers, Johnny Hunter and James Hunter.

His memories will be cherished by his son, Brandon Joelle Carroll; granddaughter, Brandi Jy'niayah Carroll; two sisters, Shirley Jefferson of Rembert and Sallie (Roosevelt) Isaac of Dalzell; five brothers, Wyatt Hunter of Washington, D.C., Gene Hunter of Redding, California, Robert (Ernestine) Hunter of Cotton Acres, George (Deloris) Hunter and John (Connie) Hunter of Rembert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
