Katherine Emmalean Abrams, 78, wife of Leslie Doyle Abrams, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, after a valiant fight with cancer.

Emmalean, as she was affectionately known to her family, was born in Lake City, South Carolina, on Sept. 18, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Junius Middleton DuBose and Beulah Floyd DuBose.

Mrs. Abrams was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church, Sumter’s Home Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Azalea Garden Club. She retired from Yuasa Exide after a 35-year career where she worked her way up from assembly to buyer. She enjoyed doing anything that involved her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Abrams is survived by her beloved husband and two children, Anthony “Andy” Abrams (Deanna) and Lesley Abrams Lagimoniere (Greg); four grandchildren, Dalton Abrams, Hayden Abrams, Kaitlyn Lagimoniere and Kylie Lagimoniere; three sisters, Valorie Evans, Alita Barkley and Betty Logan (Clarence); and two beloved nieces who were daughters of her heart, Linda Garrett and Brenda Fonteyne; and an abundance of loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Junius DuBose; and one sister, Dorothy Odine DuBose Whitney.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, in Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jim Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Greg Lagimoniere, Dalton Abrams, Hayden Abrams, Davis Russ, Brett Fonteyne Jr. and Stephanie Jackson.
