PINEWOOD - Josephine "Willie Mae" James Richardson, 82, wife of Ransom Richardson, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at her home.

Born Jan. 10, 1929, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Mary Carraway and stepdaughter of Fred Carraway. She attended Sumter County public schools. She was a member of Antioch AME Church in Rimini, where served on the senior choir and missionary board. She was a member of Summerton Senior Citizen Choir.

Survivors besides her husband of the home include four sons, Earl (Josephine) Richardson and Harrison (Roxanne) Richardson, both of Rimini, Ransom (Camilla) Richardson of Sumter and Leroy (Etrude) Richardson of Pinewood; three daughters, Lillie (Robert) Jordan and Jerleen (Larry) Stubbs, both of Sumter, and Betty (Garry) Farrar of Irvington, N.J.; one sister, Ruth James of Whiteville, N.C.; four sisters-in-law, Sara Purger and Marie McCoy, both of Irvington, and Daisy Moore of Pinewood; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three special friends, Lottie Riley, Lena Ragin and Loutina Ragin; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, David and Ronnie Richardson; one daughter, Margaret Smoot; one grandson, Garry Farrar Jr.; and three brothers, Wendell, Silas and Paul Moore.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Antioch AME Church, Pinewood, with the Rev. Dr. Serena King-Freeman, pastor, the Rev. Leonard Simmons, eulogist, the Rev. Richard James and the Rev. Saymon James. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 1209 White and Rivers Road, Pinewood.
