Joseph "Tootsie" Marible Waynick Jr., 90, widower of Thelma A. "Pete" Waynick, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital

Born in Clarksville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Joseph Waynick Sr. and Marian Mable Brunson Waynick.

Mr. Waynick was a member of Westside Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Waynick Upholstery for over 40 years. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Gamecock Club. He served in the U.S. Army 24th Infantry Division and was a member of the U.S. Air Force, where he was an NCO Korean War veteran.

Surviving are two sons, Phillip Darryl Waynick (Cindy) of Sumter and Anthony Lee Waynick (Tammy) of Ft. Myers, Florida; two daughters, Terry Lynn Frierson (Eddie) of Sumter and Paula Ann White (Willie Fields) of Columbia; 11 grandchildren, Jeramy White (Beth), Jessica Jones (Allen), Ann Marie Norton (Brian), Tyler Waynick (Amanda), Austin Waynick (Jessica), Matthew Waynick (Jennifer), Logan Waynick, Jason Law, Linsey Strunga, Garrit Strunga and Bradley Strunga; and 12 great-grandchildren, Garen, Allie, Collin, Hadley, Harper, Taylor, Natalie, Isabella, Walker, Miller, Tessa and Addie.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joey Parker Waynick; a grandson, Carter Joseph White; three brothers, George Waynick, Harold Waynick and Wilber Parker Waynick "Pee Wee"; and two sisters, Helen Skipper and Mable Ann Owen.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Reed and Pastor Allen Jones officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeramy White, Tyler Waynick, Matthew Waynick, Austin Waynick, Allen Jones and Brian Norton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of Eddie and Terry Frierson.
