MANNING - Joseph Armstrong Lowder Jr., 85, widower of Catherine Blalock Lowder, died on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020, at McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Born on Oct. 29, 1934, in Manning, he was a son of the late Joseph Armstrong Lowder Sr. and Edna McCabe Lowder. He was a retired farmer, retired from Starflo and a lifetime member of Jordan United Methodist Church. He was an avid supporter of Gamecock Athletics and a member of the Gamecock Club for 42 years.

He is survived by three children, Cynthia Pack of Manning, Wayne Lowder (Julie) of Sumter and Brenda Barnes (Timmy) of Dalzell; six grandchildren, Daniel Robert Pack III (Kelsey), Hunter Birgerson (Samantha), Madison Lowder, Tyler Pack, Jordan Pack and Jackson Barnes; a great-granddaughter, Presley Pack; a great-granddaughter due in February, Aleida Birgerson; and a special cousin, Jarma Jean Hewitt.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Daniel Robert Pack Jr.; and a sister, Vivian Brunson.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Jordan United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. John Watts and the Rev. Tony Morris officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home of Cynthia Pack, 2923 King Road, Manning.
