JOHN DOZIER LEE III

John Dozier "Johnny" Lee III, 73, died on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late John Dozier Lee Jr. and Elizabeth "Betty" Burgess Lee. Mr. Lee was a member of the Church of the Holy Comforter, Anglican. He was a graduate of The Citadel (Class of 1971) and spent time working for 84 Lumber Co., before returning to Sumter to work in the Department of Social Services. A huge animal lover and outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed spending his time doing yard work, feeding the ducks at Lake Marion and attending get-togethers with the Millwood Supper Club.

Surviving are a son, Richard Dozier Lee (Madasyn) of Knoxville, Tennessee; a sister, Mary Dozier Lee Ellsworth (John) of Lexington; and a former spouse, Kathrine Taylor Smith of Florence.

He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Lee Satory.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Walton, Rector Emeritus of The Church of the Holy Comforter, officiating.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
