Joey E. Wise, 65, husband of Ruth Hatfield Wise, died on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020, at his home.

Born on April 1, 1955, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Edward and Vonice Baker Wise. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Rembert. He retired from Santee Print Works and was the owner of Wise Lawn Care. Joey's goal every day was to make someone smile or laugh everywhere he went.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years; a sister, Issel Saukko (Doc); daughters, Angela Poff (Justin), Laurie Johnson (Eric) and Lisa Rackley (Billy); grandchildren, Andrew Coker, Ashley Coker, Brittany Barfield, Chelsea Rackley, Brice Cornett, Savannah Mahoney, Corban Rackley, R.J. Mahoney, Austin Mahoney and Camden Rackley; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Wise and Tony Wise.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Joe Stines officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Coker, Robert Mahoney, Alan Lovelace, Andrew Bochette, L.J. Sohnemann and Michael Bigelow.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
