Joe Scott Kelly, 87, husband of Margaret Garnett Kelly, died June 19 at the Veterans Victory House Nursing Facility in Walterboro.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late John Marion Kelly and the late Mary Ridgill Kelly. Mr. Kelly was a US Army veteran of World War II where he served as a military police officer and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. He was a proud member of the American Legion since 1946. He was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He was recognized at Home Branch Baptist Church as a Deacon Emeritus in September 2006.

Survivors besides his wife of 58 years include three children, Joe S. Kelly Jr., of Lexington, Sara Jo K. Kent (Kevin) of Pontiac, and Lisa K. Krouse (Paul) of Sumter; eight grandchildren, Don Allen Kelly, Jr. (Amanda), Josh S. Kelly (Heather), Patrick K. Kelly, Nick B. Kelly, Kelly T. Krouse, Johnathan B. Kent, Michael S. Kent, and Paul Joseph Krouse Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Zachery C. Springs and Abbigail G. Kelly.

He was preceded in death by a son, Don A. Kelly Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bailey Kelly; a brother, Charles B. Kelly; and two sisters, Marian K. "Jimmie" Thames and Lillian K. Stone.

Funeral services were held June 21 at Home Branch Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard Hudson and Robert Haynes officiating. Burial was held in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Home Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1667 Stone Rd., Manning, SC 29102.

ROBERT LEE KOCHER Sr.

ELLOREE - Robert Lee Kocher Sr., 76, died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at his home.

Born March 22, 1934, in Terra Haute, Ind., he was a son of the late Bernard and Lola Taylor Kocher. He was a retired graphic artist and an author. He had written poetry, screenplays and fiction.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Lee Kocher Jr. of Laurel, Md. and Christopher Lee Kocher of Jessup, Md.; three daughters, Jeanne Fisher of Columbia, Md., Kathleen Ellen Flora of Frederick, Md. and Kimberly Ann Bolding of Scranton, Pa.; two stepsons, Joseph Bodecker of Waldorf, Md. and Vincent (Ben) Bodecker of Elloree; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held privately

WILBUR N. McBRIDE

BALTIMORE, Md. - Wilbur Neolis McBride, 78, died June 11, 2010, at his home.

Born Feb. 9, 1932, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late James Blaine and Evelyn McBride. He was in the Marine Corps and the Army after attending Clarendon County public schools. In 1959, he met and married the love of his life, Delores, affectionately known as "Chink."

Survivors besides his wife of 50 years include two sons, Glenn Lemmon and Wilbur McBride Jr.; two daughters, Clarice McBride and Michelle McBride; and two grandchildren, Julien Morgan and Morgan McBride.

Funeral services were held June 18 at the funeral home with Elder Wayne Brunson officiating. Burial followed in Ivory Cemetery, Davis Station.
