JESSICA MONIQUE WASHINGTON

On Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, the Lord called Jessica Monique Washington to rest at Bon Secours Roper St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

Jessica was born on April 3, 1988, to the late James Jr. and Josephine Wells Washington at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church Elliott. She attended the public schools of Sumter County and was a 2006 graduate of Crestwood High School. After graduating high school, she was employed at Vanessa's Playland. She had a passion for working with children. Her nieces and nephews were the love of her life. Jessica's hobbies included spending time with family, watching a variety of TV shows, playing cards, baking, dancing and listening to music. Jessica will be affectionately remembered by her beautiful smile and her loving heart.

Jessica's memories will be cherished by three brothers, Jerome (Brittnay) Washington of Sumter and Jimmy and Terry of New York; three sisters, Jennifer (Kevin) Smith of Wedgefied, Lamara Greene of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Melissa Kohn of New York; nine aunts, Georgia Mae Reames of St. Charles, Ora Wilson and Doretha Wells, both of Elliott, Annie (Robert) Moses, Mabelle Williams and Nancy (Henry) Gavins, all of Dalzell, Evaline (Harold) Harriott of Sumter, and Rebecca Boone-Lee and Thelma Baker of Brooklyn, New York; two uncles, James Wells of Elliott and Alonza (Sylvia) Washington of Dalzell; her godmother, Mabel Butler; special neighbors, Clyde and Betty Wilson, who she took as her uncle and aunt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 4180 Cotton Acres Road, Sumter.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Paul United Methodist Church Memorial Gardens, 1517 Elliott Highway, Bishopville, with the Rev. Kay Adams Best presiding and the Rev. Ernest Frierson, eulogist.

The procession will leave the home at 2:10 p.m.
