James "Jimmy" Moses Driggers, 78, beloved husband of 50 years to Susan Rebecca Kinney Driggers, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at his home.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Louis Driggers and Hattie Alice Mahoney Driggers. He graduated from Edmunds High School, attended Clemson College and served in the U.S. Army. A dairy farmer, he was voted Sumter County Young Farmer of the Year in 1965, and owned and operated a quail shooting preserve. He was a producer for Sumter Dairies and a member of its board of directors and Young's Food Stores.

He was a member of Graham Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors besides his wife include a son, James "Jay" Driggers Jr. of Sumter; two daughters, Martha "Marty" Driggers Covington and her husband, Chris, of York and Rebecca "Becca" Driggers Doswell and her husband, David, of Columbia; two brothers, Bynum Driggers and his wife, Kay, of Raleigh, N.C. and William "Billy" Driggers and his wife, Jean, of Jackson, Ga.; and four grandchildren, Savannah Covington, Emma Covington, Isabella Covington and Jack Covington.

Memorial services were held Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at the funeral home.
