Jacob Lemon, 75, husband of Willie Mae Felder Lemon, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

He was born Nov. 1, 1934, and raised in the Silver community of Clarendon County, a son of the late Elliott and Metter Banister Lemon. He received an associate degree from Denmark Technical College, where he excelled as a master tailor. After college, he moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where he worked as a tailor and later as a contractor.

Survivors are his wife, Willie Mae Felder Lemon of Baltimore, Md.; three daughters, Margaret (John) Manning of Conway, Wanda Wright of Johns Island and Karen Alexandra of Baltimore; six sisters, Hessie Ann Martin and Naomi (Willis) Thames, both of Manning, Plummie (Elliott) Kelly of Alcolu, and Claudine Lincoln and Louise James, both of Brooklyn, and Ella Hamilton of Baltimore; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at the funeral home with Minister Al Levine, presiding, Elder Donald Graham, eulogist, assisting Elder Henry Taylor.

The family received friends at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Willis and Naomi Thames, 1874 Ram Bay Road, Manning.

WILLIAM E. LAWRENCE Sr.

FLORENCE - William Eugene Lawrence Sr., 86, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, after an illness.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Turner Eugene and Sally Emma Scott Lawrence.

Survivors include two daughters, Judi Hamilton and her husband, Sam, of Top Sail Island, N.C., and Deborah Cribb and her husband, Randy, of Timmonsville; a son, William Eugene Lawrence Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Hartsville; four grandchildren, Brandon Lawrence, Jason Hamilton, Trey Jones and Ashley Cribb; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Barrineau Lawrence, and two sons, Jerry and Robert Lawrence.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at Evergreen Memorial Park, Sumter.

Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto St., Florence, assisted the family.
