Letter to the editor: Investing in Sumter will create more cohesive community

Posted

As a grandfather, father, husband and small business owner, I fully support the Capital (Penny) Sales Tax Referendum. If we want to keep Sumter County going forward, we must vote YES! Investing in our roads, public areas and safety means creating a more cohesive community for all of us.

Everyone benefits when our roads and public spaces are kept up, from little companies like mine to the clients we see on a daily basis. The initiatives financed by this vote will facilitate travel and entice more people to invest time and money in our region, which will benefit our economy and local jobs.

As a husband and grandfather, I want my children and grandchildren to grow up in a community that they can be proud of. A tiny investment like this penny tax will have a big impact on improving Sumter County for coming generations.

I'm hoping that more people will vote "yes" to the penny sales tax. Let's use this chance to implement significant changes that will benefit our families, companies and the county as a whole.
