A contemporary Christian singer is returning to Sumter for a makeup date. After a travel conflict prevented him from staying overnight following a July concert and leading music in Sunday morning services at a Sumter church, Mike Weaver, lead singer of Big Daddy Weave, said he will return to make that date up.

Weaver, better known as "Big Daddy," will lead two worship services at Alice Drive Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct. 6, according to the church's creative pastor Mandy Easton.

Easton said recently that Weaver has agreed to return that Sunday and lead the 9:45 and 11 a.m. contemporary worship services with the church's band. Easton said he will perform five songs.

The five-member band's current hit song, "Alive," was No. 1 this past week on Billboard Magazine's Hot Christian Songs chart.

Earlier this month, Weaver released his first book, "I Am Redeemed: Learning to Live in Grace."

Easton said the book and the hit band's music will be available for sale that day at the church.
