Helen Elizabeth Thames Jordan, 93, widow of Jack Chambers Jordan, died on Monday, May 29, 2023, at her home.

Born on July 1, 1929, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Marion Thomas Thames and Mary Elizabeth Childers Thames. Mrs. Jordan was an active member of Grace Baptist Church, having served in youth and college career classes. She was also a past member of the Sanctuary and XYZ Choirs, the XYZ Club and Faith Sunday School class. She served as a volunteer for Prisma Health Tuomey and Sumter Volunteers, having received the Edith Myers award. She loved gardening and was a past member of the Azalea Garden Club, serving as its secretary.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Jordan Harvey; grandchildren, Jeremy Randall Harvey (Lindsey), Evan Chambers Jordan and Emily Renee Jordan; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan Jordan Harvey and Davis Holt Weycker.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Edward Jordan; a sister, Frances Thames Broadway; and four brothers, Hugh Thomas Thames, Marion Dewey Thames, Robert Lemuel Thames and Norwood Earl Thames.

Funeral services will be held at noon today at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon today at Grace Baptist Church.
