HELEN DAVIS THOMAS

Helen Davis Thomas, 93, widow of John Earl Thomas, died on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at her home.

Born on July 31, 1930, in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Bingham Davis Sr. and Earlene Brown Davis. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She loved spending time at the lake house, playing cards and going to University of South Carolina football games with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed time with and loved her granddaughters.

Survivors include two sons, John A. Thomas and Richard "Rick" E. Thomas, both of Sumter; two granddaughters, Kristin Arnette Thomas and Samantha Deanna Kirk; three brothers, Bingham Davis Jr. (Rosa), Bobby Davis and Francis Davis, all of Bishopville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hanna Marie Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. James McElveen. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Chewning, Robbie Davis, Tracy Davis, John Godwin, Ed Godwin and Jerry Bellamy.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
