Harry Amos Jr., 52, departed this earth to join his heavenly father on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.

Harry was born Aug. 11, 1957, in Sumter, to the late Harry and Annie Bell Kendrick Amos. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Hillcrest High School Class of 1974. He enjoyed woodworking, car collecting and spending time with his family. He began his professional career as a construction worker in Columbia. He advanced to the role of project manager with Carother's Construction.

He leaves to cherish and carry on his memory: a loving wife, Elinor Marie of Columbus; a son, Dale Courtland Epps of Petersburg, Va.; a daughter, Shalawa Aki Amos of Orangeburg; a granddaughter, Nevaeh Epps of Petersburg; a sister, Carolyn Amos Loggins (Lawrence) of Manning; a mother-in-law, Josephine Epps of Disputanta, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Karen Alex of Marietta, Ga., and Tijuana Hill of Elizabeth City, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Kermit Epps III of Disputanta; Dana Amos Hill (Kevin) of Sicklerville, N.J.; Herman Kendrick (Ethel) of Silver Spring, Md.; a godson, Cedric Wyche of Disputanta; Sean Carothers of Taylor, Miss., Ben Logan of Grenada, Miss.; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 325 Fulton St., Sumter. Burial followed at Hillside Memorial Park.
