PALM BEACH, Fla. - Gloria Young Hall Capers Hilton, 76, widow of Seymour Hall and Albert Capers, died Tuesday March 8, 2011, at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Palm Beach.

Born Jan. 11, 1935, in Manhattan, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Jake Ellis and Willie Mae Wheeler Young. She attended New York public schools and graduated from Medgar Evers University with a bachelor's degree. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior. She was a longtime member of Greater Refuge Temple and an outstanding member of People's Baptist Church in New York City. After she retired, she moved to Summerton, and joined Historic Liberty Hill AME Church, where she served on the missionary society and the sanctuary choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Stars, National Council of Negro Women and a lifetime member of the NAACP. She was employed with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development as a real property district manager.

Survivors include Brenda (Lawrence) Lougheed of West Palm Beach, Fla., Adrienne Capers-Morant of Winter Springs, Fla., Cathy Capers-Stephens of Summerton, Albert (Angela K.) Capers of High Point, N.C., and Harold (Frances) Wilborn and Maggie Capers, both of Holly Hill. She shared a special relationship with Leroy Hilton Jr., Thomasine Mayfield and Rodney Hilton.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Historic Liberty Hill AME Church, 2310 Liberty Hill Road, Summerton, with the Rev. Dr. Leslie Lovett, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 5 Caldwell St., Summerton.
