George E. White Jr., 70, was born on Sept. 14, 1949, in Columbia, a son of the late George Sr. and Mercedes Pruitt White. He departed this life on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at his residence.
George was a member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church and also attended Good Shepherd Episcopal Church regularly. He graduated from C.A. Johnson High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in banking and finance. He then pursued and received his graduate degree from LSU. George married Brenda N. McClintock White in 1976. After moving to Sumter, he began working for National Bank of South Carolina. Later, George retired from Santee-Lynches in 2016.
His memory will be cherished by his twin sister, Jeanie W. Weston; fours, Dondi, Gregory, David (Rose) and Tre'von; a daughter, Katherine; 10 grandchildren, Devin, Jermaal, Tevin, Corey Jr., Adrien, Noah, Chloe, Acchia, Eliana and Ava; and a host of other relatives, friends and the community in which he served.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela M. White; and a son, Corey Sr.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in George E. White Jr.'s honor to a local charity of your choice.
