GEORGE D. VINING

George D. Vining, 90, husband of the late Alice Geneva Burke Vining, passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at Veteran's Victory House in Walterboro.

Born Dec. 16, 1930, in Columbia, he was a son of the late James Walter Vining and Mattie Blume Vining. He was a member of Open Bible Baptist Church and retired from Suburban Propane Gas Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include three children, Wanda V. Berry (Gary), George Matt Vining (Lynn) and Mark D. Vining (Sandra), all of Sumter; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathleen Winburn of Hartsville and Frances Lovelace of Sumter.

He was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with Evangelist Gary A. Berry Jr., Pastor Brian Magaw and Pastor Joey Durham officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
