At Sumter School District's Celebration of Excellence on Thursday, the Sumter Teacher Forum awarded Scholarships for Future Educators to seniors attending college in the fall to major in education. Paisley Williams from Crestwood High School, second from right, won the largest scholarship, receiving the $3,000 Hailey Bordeaux Memorial Scholarship for Future Educators. Hailey was a former Sumter High School student, a teacher cadet and a South Carolina Teaching Fellow at the University of South Carolina. The Teacher Forum's desire is to honor Hailey's love for children and the public school classroom by naming the top scholarship in her memory.
