Free vaccine clinics in Sumter, Lee counties today, Saturday

South Carolina Department of Education will host three free COVID-19 vaccine clinics in Sumter and Lee counties on Thursday, Feb. 10, and Saturday, Feb. 12.

On Thursday, clinics will be held at R.E. Davis College Preparatory Academy, 345 Eastern Road, Sumter, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at Lee County Middle School, 41 Charlenes Lane in Bishopville, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m..

On Saturday, vaccines will be given at Mary McLeod Bethune Park, 1175 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Road, in Mayesville.

Residents 5 years and older can receive the Pfizer vaccine, and adults 18 years and older can receive the Moderna or Johnson and Johnson vaccines. The booster dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will also be available.

SCDOE partnered with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control for the In It To Win It vaccination initiative to support local school districts, encourage vaccinations and provide information and resources to residents.

According to the latest data from DHEC, 54% of eligible Lee County residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine and nearly 47% are fully vaccinated. For Sumter County residents, 56% have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 45% are fully vaccinated, according to DHEC.
