Free COVID-19 testing coming to Clarendon

CLARENDON COUNTY - Individuals needing to be tested for COVID-19 will be able to do so from the safety of their vehicles each Wednesday in September.
The Medical University of South Carolina will provide free testing over the next three weeks in Alcolu, Manning and Summerton, respectively.
Each free clinic will offer first-come, first-served testing. MUSC asks that all attendees wear masks and not get out of their vehicles. Individuals are asked to bring a picture ID if they have one.
From 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sept. 16, MUSC will host a COVID-19 clinic in the Alcolu area at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 9124 Plowden Mill Road.
On Sept. 23, MUSC will return to Manning to host a COVID-19 clinic at Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple St., from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
On Sept. 30, MUSC will head to Summerton to hold a COVID-19 clinic at Taw Caw Community Outreach Center, 1126 Granby Lane, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control offers several tips on how to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19. SCHEC urges individuals to practice social distancing. Individuals should avoid crowded gatherings and stay at least six feet from others. Cloth masks should be worn in public. Hands should be washed often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially if individuals have been in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. When coughing and sneezing, DHEC urges the use of a tissue or use the inside of your elbow. If you're sick, stay home. Avoid individuals who are sick, and remember to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
