FRANCENA COWELL

Francena Cowell, 60, was born on Jan. 18, 1960, in Sumter to her parents, Saul Benjamin and Jessie Mae McLeod. She departed this life on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at Agape Hospice Facility, Lexington.

Francena attended the public schools of Sumter County. After receiving her high school diploma from Sumter High School Class of 1977, she continued her studies at Central Carolina Technical College, where she received her associate degree in medical secretarial. Before her health began to fail, she was an active member of St. Paul Pentecostal Church, where she sang with the choir.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her loved ones, consisting of three children, Calvin Cowell, Tawanda Cowell and Alan Cowell; two brothers, Michael Cowell (Rose) and Alphonso Cowell; one sister, Glendell Baker; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 735 Flamingo Road, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Elder Barrington Pierson officiating, eulogist.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.
