BARRINEAU — A 66-year-old Lake City man died in a farming accident in the Barrineau area early Friday afternoon, according to Clarendon County Coroner Bucky Mock.
“Ira Vance Barrineau of Lake City died at Lake City Community Hospital,” Mock said. “His cause of death will be released pending his autopsy results."
The incident happened about 1 p.m. on Floyd Road in Clarendon County, Mock added.
Barrineau is well known in the Barrineau community of northern Clarendon County. The local businessman and farmer was a church deacon, taught Sunday school, directed the choir and was the lead singer in The Gospel Bluebirds. Barrineau was a devout member of the Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church and shared his faith with individuals in undeveloped nations during three mission trips.

"He was fun to be around," said Chuck Dukes. "He loved his church. At his service, the preacher commented that 'he always put the Lord first. Always God first and then his family.'"
