EYVONNE GREGG

Posted

Eyvonne “Coota” Gregg was born Nov. 23, 1970, to the late Paul Gregg and Queen Elizabeth Parker-Gregg in Sumter, South Carolina. “Coota” was educated in the public schools of Sumter School District.

She enjoyed going to church during her earlier years. While in the church, she enjoyed serving on the Usher Board and in the music ministry.

She enjoyed serving the community while preparing meals at Church’s Chicken and KFC as the assistant manager for both for over 10 years. But above all, the best title she could have was being called a grandmother to her four grandchildren.

“Coota” leaves to cherish her memory: her sisters, Mary Ann (Larry) Fullard and Elaine Gregg; her brother, Willis (Stephanie) Gregg; her daughter, Cemara Burgess; her son, Donta Gregg; grandchildren, Da’naiyja Burgess, Jermaine Hodge, JaShun Hodge and Sa’naiya Burgess-Hodge; a special friend, Walsh Garner; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives, all of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Queen Gregg; three brothers, Jr., Randy and TC Gregg; and two sisters, Barbara Ann and Patricia Ann Gregg.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting that face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 5755 Wessex Drive, Wedgefield.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, in John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Lee Burgess, officiating.
