EVERETTE DOWE

Everette "Brotha Bays" Dowe, 71, died Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born April 9, 1939, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Elliot "Boy" and Mamie "Plummie" Gipson Dowe. He received his formal education at Oak Groves School. In his youth, he joined St. Matthew AME Church, where he sang on the choir. Brotha worked in construction in Columbia for a period of time. He was a loving and caring individual and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Kirby Lee Dowe and Willie "Sonny" Dowe; and four sisters, Minnie Bell Coard, Hattie Mae Walters, Gertrude Gibson and Carolina.

Those left to cherish his memory are a caring son, Cartwell Scott; four brothers, Ebie Ruben "Bubba" (Queenie) Dowe of Wilmington, N.C., Milton (Wilene) Dowe of Davis Station, Alphonza (Ella) Dowe and Ulysees (Rebecca) Dowe, both of Manning; a sister, Mary Emma Parker of Manning; a special nephew, Otis Ulysees Dowe, who he nicknamed "Sport," of Manning; 23 nieces; 19 nephews; a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Dow were held Saturday, May 15, 2010, in Summerton Funeral Service chapel. Burial followed in the Summerton Funeral Service cemetery.
