Sumter's eSTEAM Festival, Oktoberfest still on tap for Saturday ahead of Hurricane Ian

With a Saturday filled with events this weekend, some have decided to still push forward at this time.

eSTEAM Festival
Sumter’s annual, 21st Century, education learning extravaganza will press forward on Saturday, as of Tuesday, according to Erika Williams, event organizer.
“It’s too early to panic for us because there wouldn’t be a postponement for a week or two. It’d be a cancellation,” she said.
The event’s committee will meet with law enforcement on Thursday to discuss plans on moving forward.
Oktoberfest & Oktoberfest Buzz Run 5K
Sumter’s annual Oktoberfest celebration fundraiser for Sumter United Ministries will press on, according to organizer Danielle Thompson.
“We’ll just make a day-of call,” Thompson said. “I just feel a real pressure to keep the event going because it is the largest fundraiser for United Ministries.”
Even if it rains, as long as it’s not a downpour, Oktoberfest will commence with plans to move the band under cover in La Piazza, she said.
Those planning to attend are asked to watch for updates on both Hamptons' and Sidebar’s Facebook pages.
Dorr Farms Fall Farm Days
The first Saturday of Dorr Farms’ Farm Fall Day is pressing forward at this time, according to owner Marie Dorr. However, there is a high chance they will close the farm that day.
“More than likely, we probably will end up having to cancel,” Dorr said. “I canceled all of our extra vendors that were coming in.”
Those extra vendors for Saturday are being scheduled for the Fall Farm Day on Oct. 8; the Fall Farm Days are every Saturday in October.
Those who planned to visit the farm on Saturday are encouraged to watch for updates on Dorr Farms Facebook page.
