Emily Anne Coonce Nicholes, 74, widow of John W. "Ray" Nicholes, died on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on March 6, 1947, in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Chester M. and Annie Maria Lowder Coonce. Mrs. Nicholes was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Cromer (Mike) of Woodruff and Marie Hernandez (Joe) of Abilene, Texas; a son, William "Bubba" Hartley Jr. (Margaret) of Pinewood; a stepdaughter, Bunnie Nicholes Jackson Hewitt (Craig) of Manning; a stepson, Tommy Nicholes (Linda) of Columbia; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Coonce (Judi) of Sumter; and one sister, Jenny Coonce of California.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Grate.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Arthur Sharpe officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Church of the Nazarene and other times at the home.
