EMERSON L. BROWN

Emerson L. Brown, 84, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, at Tri Hospital, Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Born April 29, 1935, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Herbert and Catherine Wells Brown. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. He also attended Voorhees Junior College and Area Trade School in Denmark to study plastering and graduated with the Class of 1957. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined Antioch United Methodist Church, where he was actively involved until he relocated to Washington, D.C., and later to Newark, New Jersey. He was employed by Local 14 Plaster Union in Fairfield, New Jersey.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Ernestine Helton Brown; a daughter, Shari L. Brown Hobson; two granddaughters; one brother, Leon (Valschia) Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the family home, 1060 Goodson Road, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Antioch United Methodist Church, 4040 Dubose Siding Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Raymond F. Cook Jr., pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cains Mill Road, Sumter.
