Elizabeth Wells McCathern, 85, widow of Daniel A. McCathern, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born Feb. 7, 1934, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Leonard Rowland Wells and Thelma Elizabeth Pack Wells. She was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church. She was employed for many years at Pioneer Ltd. and retired from Pritchard Brothers Mechanical.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel A. McCathern Jr. and Ralph F. McCathern (Janice), both of Sumter; two grandchildren, Justin Ryan Caraway and Hayleigh A. McCathern; a foster grandson, Carson Rollins; a brother, Leonard R. Wells Jr. of Albany, New York; and special cousins, George Campbell, Randy Campbell, Debra Gibbs, Beth Stoney and Libby DuBose.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Lynn McCathern; a brother, Waverly M. Wells; and a cousin, Ricky Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Allan Glass, the Rev. Pete Mixon and the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Justin Ryan Caraway, Todd McDonald, George Campbell, Preston McDonald, Tyler Gibbs and Johnnie Gibbs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harvey McDonald, Frankie McDonald, Mike DuBose, Randy Campbell and the Ladies' Sunday School Class of Home Branch Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ralph and Janice McCathern, 3930 Nazarene Church Road.
