Elizabeth "Bessie" Gaymon Green, age 86, was born July 14, 1924, in Clarendon County, to the late James William and Mattie Ellison Gaymon. She was the widow of Ben Tillman Green.

Mrs. Green, also known as "Bessie," died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

She was educated in the public schools of Clarendon County. Mrs. Green was a lifelong member of Mount Pleasant UME Church, where she served on the missionary board, usher board, pulpit aid committee, stewardess board, senior choir and as a Sunday school teacher.

Precious memories will be cherished by two sons, Lawrence (Gardenia) Green and William (Cathy) Green, both of Rimini; a daughter, Robertha (Cleveland) Green Sweat of Manning; two sisters, Lillie Mae Gaymon Prickett of Thomasville, N.C., and Mary Gaymon Gillis of Miami, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Mount Pleasant UME Church, Panola community, Pinewood, with the Rev. Mary Lou Brailsford, pastor, officiating. Final resting place is Spring Grove Cemetery, Rimini community, Pinewood.

The family received friends at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Gardenia Green, 1192 White and Rivers Road, Rimini community, Pinewood.
