On Tuesday, April 15, Duke Energy helped the City of Sumter and Sumter Green work toward the city's commitment to a greener future by presenting a Duke Energy Foundation grant for $3,500. Mayor Pro Tem James B. Blassingame attended the presentation and accepted the the check on behalf of Sumter Green. The money will help the city plant a variety of new trees along Prisma Health Shot Pouch Greenway. Duke Energy representatives also cleaned up litter along Wesmark Boulevard, Bultman Drive and Rast Street as part of the Trees, Trails, and Trash program. Liberty the Litter Pup, Sumter's litter mascot, joined the group and reminded everyone that it's up to each of us to take care of South Carolina's natural treasures.
