DNR accepting applications for WMA lottery quail hunts

Posted

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources is now accepting applications for WMA Quail Lottery Hunts through Oct. 15.

A non-refundable fee of $20 is required of all applicants for the lottery. Youth hunters on the application must be at least 10 years old, but at least one adult must be the primary applicant. There can be up to three hunters on an application.

In addition to quail lottery hunts at McBee WMA, Bobwhite Hills WMA will be hosting two quail lottery hunts.

Bobwhite Hills (760 acres) is a new WMA owned by Quail Forever on the border of Sumter and Lee counties. Extensive quail habitat renovations are just underway on this property, but spring whistle counts indicate there are a limited number of birds at this time.

All hunts are one-day hunts (9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).

The limit of quail will be a total of 10 birds per hunting party. Hunters must provide their own dogs and equipment during hunts.

After the selection process occurs, all applicants will receive email notification after the drawing's completion. In addition, results can be viewed on your GoOutdoorsSC profile.
