SUMMERTON - Daniel Wayne Barwick, 61, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at his home in Summerton.

Born Nov. 13, 1949, in Sumter, he was a son of Evelyn Kolb Barwick and the late Francis Levi "Ike" Barwick.

He was owner and operator of several used automobile dealerships over the years; a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves; and a member of Pinewood Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Pinewood are his spouse, Margaret Dingle Moody of Summerton; a son, Shannon D. Barwick (Jackie) of Manning; a daughter, Kathy Barwick of Lexington; two brothers, Harold Barwick (Nona) of Roswell, N.M., and Kenny Barwick of Pinewood; a sister, Ann Springfield (Butch) of Sumter; three granddaughters, Ann Bethea, Rollin and Emma Barwick; a stepdaughter, Susan Chappell (Todd) of Manning; and a step-grandson, Brendon Kirby.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Pinewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Barwick and the Rev. Garland Hart officiating. Burial followed in Pinewood (Weeks) Cemetery, Pinewood.

Kenny Mitchum, Butch Wilson, Doug Nelson, Harris Blakely, Charlie Griffin, Tommy Brown and Harold Flinchum served as pallbearers.

The family received friends at the home, 20 S. Church St., Summerton.
