LENOIR, North Carolina - Sara Suzanne Curtis of Lenoir, North Carolina, and Samuel Lawrence Johnson of Sumter were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Susan Curtis of Lenoir, North Carolina, and the granddaughter of Dr. Rufus and Mrs. Joann Edmisten of Morganton, North Carolina, and the late Ray Curtis and the late Evelyn Curtis, both of Lenoir. She graduated from Piedmont International University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.

The bridegroom is the son of Tommy and Lydia Johnson of Sumter and the grandson of the late Lucius and Pauline Lawrence of Sumter and the late Kenneth and Delaine Johnson of Charlotte, North Carolina. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Art degree in History and received a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is employed as a hearing officer for the South Carolina Office of Motor Vehicle Hearings.

Dr. Edmisten, grandfather of the bride, officiated at the ceremony.

Music was provided by Matthew Baker, pianist and soloist.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a princess ballroom-style gown with a chapel train. She carried a bouquet of burgundy, white and blush roses with eucalyptus and Lily of the Valley.

Amanda Parks Curtis served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Hamby and Sarah Johnson. Sadie Davis served as flower girl.

The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Aaron Curtis and Jamey Gowdy. Joshua Curtis served as ring bearer.

Also participating were Benjamin Curtis, Shasta Harris and David Johnson.

The bride's parents held the reception at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church.

The bridegroom's parents held the rehearsal party at 1841 Cafe in Lenoir, North Carolina.

Following a wedding trip to St. Augustine, Florida, and Savannah, Georgia, the couple resides in West Columbia.
