Get creative for City of Manning's Scarecrows on Main

MANNING - Now is the time to begin thinking about fall, and the City of Manning is asking individuals, families, clubs, church groups, civic organizations and businesses to have fun and get in the fall spirit by creating a scarecrow or fall decoration for display in downtown Manning.

All decorations and scarecrows will be displayed on lamp posts throughout downtown Manning during October. All you will need are the materials and the creativity!

Multiple fishing tourneys set for John C. Land III Landing

Stroll Main Street Manning on Oct. 3 downtown Arts Walk

MANNING - Main Street Manning is hosting a downtown Arts Walk from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3.

Attendees will be able to enjoy art featuring an array of different mediums while strolling through downtown businesses.

Main Street Manning is also looking for both artists and businesses to participate in this event. Musicians, dancers, painters, sculptors, fiber artists, poets and other artists are invited to be part of the festivities. Manning Council of Garden Clubs hosts Bryce Lane Oct. 9

MANNING - The Manning Council of Garden Clubs invites the public to meet the celebrated three-time Emmy Award-winning host and producer of UNC-TV's "In the Garden with Bryce Lane" at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Weldon Auditorium.

Lane will be talking about "Year Round Container Gardens" and "The Nuts & Bolts of Pruning."

Admission to the event is free, and some lucky attendees will walk away with a door prize.

HCCL hosts 'We Built This Brick by Brick' on Oct. 10

MANNING - The Harvin Clarendon County Library, 215 N. Brooks St., will celebrate 40 years at its current location at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.

The evening of festivities will include live entertainment, a silent auction, games, prizes and lots more.

2024 Francis Marion Symposium to be held Oct. 18 and 19

MANNING - Attention all Revolutionary War enthusiasts.

The 2024 Francis Marion Symposium will be held Friday-Saturday, Oct. 18-19, at F.E. DuBose Campus. Take Interstate 95 and Exit 122 to 3351 Sumter Highway.

The symposium will explore the Revolutionary War campaigns while immersing attendees in Francis Marion's world and the significances of the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution.

The symposium will feature educational lectures, history enthusiasts and dinner theaters.

CCFR Community Safety Day Oct. 26 includes Trunk or Treat

MANNING - Clarendon County Fire Rescue's annual Community Safety Day will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road.

The free event will include "Trunk or Treat," food, candy and lots of other fun activities. Children can even wear their costumes.

Fire trucks, ambulances, a medical helicopter, law enforcement vehicles, tractors and more cool stuff will be there.

Duckfest is Nov. 2 with many events leading up to main day

SUMMERTON - The 10th-annual Duckfest will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, throughout downtown Summerton with many events held in the weeks and days leading up to the main day.

The Duckfest Fall Open Team Bass Tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28, at John C. Land III Landing.

The Miss Duckfest pageant will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Weldon Auditorium.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, dozens of events will be held throughout downtown Summerton, including a cornhole tournament, dog retrieving demonstration, Duckfest Cook-Off, car show, Clarendon County Fire Rescue demonstration, lots of delicious food and many more games and fun activities.

2024 Duckfest hats are on sale. Camo boony hats are $35 each, and Richardson 112 trucker hats are $25 each.

2024 Duckfest shirts and other merchandise will be arriving soon.
