On Tuesday, June 10, at 5:30 p.m., Sumter County Council will hold a budget workshop where council members will continue discussing the 2025-26 budget before its third and final reading.

The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Sumter County Administration Building in the county council conference room at 13 E. Canal St. The door to the area where the conference room is located is locked and requires you to press a button to alert the clerk.

The end of the 2024-25 fiscal year is swiftly approaching, with the new fiscal year beginning on July 1, meaning the budget will soon need to be ready. At county council’s regularly scheduled council meeting, which will begin at 6 p.m., council will vote on the budget’s third reading.

On the workshop’s agenda, which was sent out Monday afternoon, is an overview of the budget, capital request adjustments and a summary of the budget with the county’s next steps.

Before the budget workshop, the council will hold its Internal Affairs Committee meeting at 4:30 p.m. and its Fiscal, Tax and Property Committee meeting at 5 p.m. The only item on these meetings’ agendas is executive sessions, which are not open to the public. However, if the council votes on an issue, members will disclose it to the public during the regular county council meeting.
