COLIN BRANNON

Posted

It is a common sentiment that time will heal all wounds. However, the sudden and tragic passing of brothers Carl Blossomgame Jr. and Colin Brannon may be an exception to that sentiment. The brothers were killed when their vehicle went over the mountain on Highway 263 just north of Yreka, California, sometime during the week of Feb. 15, 2021.

Colin Jesse-Kincaid Brannon, the baby of the family, was born on April 6, 2002, in Arcata, California, to Joe Humphry and Deborah Blossomgame. Colin was born with a life-threatening condition, and lived his life as a persistent overcomer. Colin was a good boy, kind and loving, and he would willingly give his last dollar to anyone in need, as he always put the needs of others first. Colin loved listening to music and playing X-Box, and his aspiration was to join the military. Colin moved to Lynchburg with his mother and attended Crestwood High School and then Wil Lou Grey Academy in West Columbia.

Colin is survived by his mother, Deborah Formosa of Lynchburg; his siblings, Cheyenne Blossomgame of Yreka, Rick Lester of Happy Camp, Donald Lester of Eureka, Tyrel Brannon of Eureka, Robert Shuff of Texas, Tasha Kahoalii of Eureka, Joe Humphry Jr., Ashaeah Humphry and Trenton Humphry; his grandfather, Jessie Brannon; and his nieces and nephews, Nikita Lester of Redding, Shelby Garlington of Alabama, Makoa, Nathaniel and Elijah Lester, all of Eureka, and Robbie Shuff of Texas.

The boys' mother, Deborah, is raising funds to send the boys back to South Carolina for burial. She says that "losing two children at once is a worse pain that anyone should ever experience," and that "people keep saying that they're in a better place, but they're not. Their better place is here: breathing and living with us."

Deborah extends her profound gratitude to those who cared for them, assisted in the search and those who have reached out in the days since they were found. Your compassion does not go unnoticed.

In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during all visitation at the home, 995 Lesane Pressley Road, Lynchburg.

Graveside services will be held at noon on Friday at Brannon Cemetery, 995 Lesane Pressley Road, Lynchburg.

The procession will leave the home at 11:30 a.m.
