President Kathy Creech welcomed 37 members and one guest to the April 16 meeting of The Sumter Art Association which was held in the parish hall of The Church of the Holy Comforter.

Chaplain Gloria Coker gave a devotion on how God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is always with us, so we should approach His throne with grace.

Vicki Goodwin reported on a number of cultural events coming up in the Sumter area.

Guest speaker Karen West, the director of Sumter County Gallery of Art, spoke on the history of the gallery. She stressed how every person should be so proud of the gallery. Karen also mentioned that in the year 2021, the gallery hosted a Norman Rockwell exhibit. In that same year, an exhibit called Pathfinders showcasing the artwork of high school seniors from Sumter-area schools was exhibited and continues each year.

After a business meeting, members and our guest enjoyed refreshments provided by the hostess committee. Chairperson was Marian Shaw. Shirley Osborne served as co-chairperson. They were assisted by Caron DuRant, Sandi Eden, Randa Edmunds, Winnie Gee, Marie Hill, Deana James, Katharine Rauch, Troy Rogers and Ann Snead.
