The Sumter Art Association
After more than a year of not meeting, the Sumter Art Association met on May 18 for a very special event in the garden of Grady Locklear. President Carla Young welcomed all and asked that we remember those members who passed away in 2021.
Josie Holler provided a meaningful devotion about "rooting" in God's love by cultivating ourselves through Scripture and prayer.
President Young thanked Dotty Kolb for the attractive table centerpiece and Patti Sosnowski and her committee for providing the refreshments.
Debbie Thomas, program chair, introduced Locklear. Locklear shared his beautiful garden, Loch Hall, where he said "something is always blooming." Hydrangeas, dianthus, hollyhocks, dahlias and pansies were just a few of his colorful blooming flowers.
Placed throughout his English garden were birdhouses, statuary, benches, unusual urns and artifacts from his family home that were sculptured into unique artwork. Each year Locklear shares his garden with many people of the community and says, "God is good to me all the time, and this garden is His."
President Young thanked Locklear for sharing his lovely home and garden.
