Clothing drive in Sumter Saturday if weather permits

Sumterite Geraldine Singleton hopes for the forecast of showers to hold out during a clothing drive this Saturday, May 25.

Singleton has hosted frequent clothing drives as a means to give back to the community alongside her community meals held around major holidays. She will slow down in the coming weeks after an upcoming surgery but hopes to do one more drive before then.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Singleton will host a clothes drive at Evergreen Villas, at 101 N. Wise Drive. Any community members looking to donate men's, women's or children's clothing can contact Singleton at (803) 775-2047 or (757) 234-1432.

If the showers do rain on the endeavor, Singleton plans to postpone it until a later date, with hopes she'll have one more Saturday before her surgery to do her good deed.
