On Tuesday, Aug. 29, The Sumter Item published an article about Clarendon schools adjusting schedules ahead of Tropical Storm Idalia. In the article, it mentioned Manning High School as a Red Cross shelter, but Clarendon County Emergency Management Director Tom Barrineau said there will be other shelters in case of emergencies in Turbeville and Summerton.

"Clarendon County Emergency Management has been diligently monitoring Hurricane Idalia," Barrineau said. "We have been corresponding with our local response agencies, state agencies, and shelter partners in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Idalia. Our shelters and shelter partners are currently on standby and ready to respond if the need arises for a shelter."
