MANNING - The Clarendon County Community Development Corp. is hosting a two-hour Financial Literacy Class tour on Zoom from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 24.

The class is being sponsored by Nate Brunson, regional vice president of Primerica from Sumter.

Brunson said the focus of the workshop will be about "how money works."

"We'll be talking about strategies for getting out of debt," Brunson added. "We'll talk about different ways of saving money and how to prepare for the future and retirement."

Yolanda Morant Williams of Morant Realty & Construction and other financial advisers will also be available to provide additional information on business viewpoints and financial strategies.

With interest rates for housing at an all-time low, now is the time for individuals to take the time to become financially educated and improve their options for homeownership. Getting into your own home may currently be less expensive; however, maintaining that home is key to a future of building wealth.

The workshop also offers information for current homeowners who are having issues maintaining their homes.

The workshop will help homeowners who are having difficulties with their payments contact their mortgage companies for assistance on getting back on track as long as they have maintained their mortgage payments on a regular basis.

To register for acceptance into the Zoom site, call (803) 435-6639 from noon to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and ask for the event's host, Pamela Clavon-Brunson, executive director of the Clarendon County CDC.
