MANNING - Giving to those who are less blessed is more than just words for a Clarendon County couple.

Hank and Paula Boudreau put their faith into action by providing 50 meals to truckers who were continuing to work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are very blessed," Paula said Thursday as she volunteered to also assist in packing more than 600 meals for the students in Clarendon School District 1. "We wanted to do something to let the truckers know how much we appreciate them."

Paula said that after her husband saw something about another community providing meals for truckers that he went to Walmart, bought the supplies, brought them home and said, "This is what we're doing."

"First we went to rest areas, but we found out that most of them were sleeping, and we didn't want to disturb them, so then we decided to go to the TA (Travel Center) and hand out the meals there," she said. "While we were on Interstate 95, we saw a truck that was pulled over to the side, so we stopped, and Hank handed him one of the meals."

The bagged meals included a bottle of water, fruit, chips, cookies, veggies and a sandwich. Each bag also provided a Bible verse, Proverbs 11:25, "A generous person will prosper, whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."

"This was a blessing for us," Paula said. "You should have seen the smiles on their faces. They were surprised, and we were blessed to be able to do this for them."
