Closures, cancellations for Sumter, Lee and Clarendon counties because of Hurricane Ian: Sept. 29, 2022

CITY OF SUMTER OFFICES / PARKS, SANITATION SERVICES

All City of Sumter Administrative Offices will be closed on Friday, Sept. 30.
Additionally, all City sanitation services will be canceled on Friday. There will be no yard debris or cardboard pickup on Friday or Saturday. All Friday commercial and residential customers will have a makeup day on Saturday, Oct.  1. All Friday customers please place your cans out by the curb by 7 a.m. on Saturday for pickup service.
All parks in the City of Sumter are officially closed and will remain closed until the hazardous weather outlook for the area has passed.
Residents should keep an eye on their surroundings and be prepared to take action if flooding occurs. If you encounter road blockages or high water on the roads, please call (803) 436-2558. In case of an emergency, call 911.

SUMTER COUNTY GOVERNMENT

Sumter County Emergency Management Director Donna Dew said all Sumter County Governnment offices are closed Friday, Sept. 30. Only essential personnel will report to work. Normal operations will resume on Monday, Oct. 3.

CLARENDON COUNTY GOVERNMENT, MANNING, SUMMERTON AND TURBEVILLE TOWN HALLS, CLARENDON SCHOOLS

CLARENDON COUNTY – All Clarendon County government offices as well as Manning, Summerton and Turbeville town halls will be closed on Friday, Sept. 30, due to the impending inclement weather anticipated for the area due to Tropical Storm Ian.

All emergency service agencies, including law enforcement, fire and EMS, will be operational.

“We just want everyone to stay safe and that includes our employees,” said Turbeville Mayor Kathryn Turbeville.

Clarendon County School District, Clarendon Hall and Lawrence Manning Academy will also be closed on Friday with students having an e-Learning Day. --  Sharron Haley, Clarendon contributor

TANDEM HEALTH SITES

All Tandem Health sites will be closed on Friday, Sept. 30.

SUMTER FARMERS MARKET

Sumter Farmers Market at USC Sumter will be closed Friday, Sept. 30.

CENTRAL CAROLINA TECHNICAL COLLEGE

All Central Carolina Technical College's campuses will be closed Friday, Sept. 30. Normal operating hours will resume on Monday, Oct. 3. Any updates will be announced through the Emergency Notification System (text, email, phone call), social media and the college's website - cctech.edu.
