Visitation for the late Dr. Rose Ann Hilliard-Wilder is Sept. 3

MANNING - Visitation will be held for the late Dr. Rose Ann Hilliard-Wilder from 2 to 8 p.m. Sept. 3 at Fleming & DeLaine Funeral Home & Chapel, 222 W. Boyce St.

Wilder is a former superintendent of Clarendon County School Districts 2 and 1 and a former member of Manning City Council.

A private funeral service will be held on Sunday.

Briggs v. Elliott National Park Dedication set for Sept. 3

SUMMERTON - The Briggs v. Elliott National Park Dedication will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 3 at the Old Scott's Branch High School, 1154 4th St.

Five monuments honoring the Rev. J.A. Delaine, Levi Pearson, Harry Briggs, the plaintiffs and attorneys and the petitioners in the lawsuits that ended racial segregation in public schools nationwide will be unveiled.

Congressman James E. Clyburn will be the keynote speaker.

Meet and Greet for candidate Lisa Ellis will be Sept. 9

MANNING - A drop-in Meet and Greet for Lisa Ellis, Democratic candidate for South Carolina superintendent of education, will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 9 at Land Parker & Welch Courtyard, 29 S. Mill St.

Everyone is invited to attend and bring a friend.

1st Journey to Recovery Event Sept. 17 at Weldon Auditorium

MANNING - Clarendon County Behavioral Health has partnered with the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, John Landon Black Foundation and the Sumter Jeep Club to hold the 1st Journey to Recovery Event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at Weldon Auditorium.

The event is being held to recognize Addiction Recovery and Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and will feature a Jeep show and a 5K walk/run.

The entire family will be able to enjoy music, face painting, resource tables and health and wellness vendors.

Nelson hosts 'Saturday with the Mayor' Sept. 10

MANNING - Manning Mayor Julia A. Nelson will host "Saturday with the Mayor" at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 at Town Hall, 29 W. Boyce St.

This meeting is to address any ideas, concerns or questions regarding the city and will be the first since the pandemic.

Summerton Duckfest shirts available now

SUMMERTON - The 2022 Summerton Duckfest shirts are on sale now.

Short-sleeve shirts are $20, and long-sleeve shirts are $25. Shirts are available at Summerton Drugs, 115 Main St.

Summerton Duckfest will be held Oct. 8. The Duckfest Beauty Pageant will be held Sept. 24, Duckfest Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 24, and the Duckfest Fishing Tournament will be held Oct. 1.

2nd-Annual Monarch Strong Bike-Run-Walk Challenge to be Sept. 24

MANNING - The 2nd-annual Monarch Strong Bike-Run-Walk Challenge will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept 24 at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road.

The bike, run and walk challenges will be held between 8 a.m. and noon. Trophies will be given to first-place gold winners in each category. There is a $20 registration fee that will include a T-shirt, horse and pony rides, Zumba and entry into the Ultimate Gamers truck.

At noon, the Monarch Strong Festival will begin with free admission.

Lots of delicious food will be on sale. Dozens of vendors will be on hand as well.

Free games, Dawkins Petting Zoo and a bounce house will offer lots of fun for youngsters and adults. Music will be provided by DJ Wonder Boy. Admittance to the Ultimate Gamers with Karaoke and Zumba will be $5 per person.

Blessing of the Harvest to be held on Sept. 26

SUMMERTON - The Annual Blessing of the Harvest will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at the home of Chris and Wendy Cogdill, 5689 Gov. Richardson Road.

Please join the Cogdills and members of the community as they gather to give thanks to God for their many blessings and for His faithfulness. The Blessing will celebrate with worship and the sharing of a meal together.

The speakers at the event will be Aaron Gross, pastor of Seacoast Church, Manning Campus, and Joel Delph, pastor of Seacoast Church, Mt. Pleasant Campus.

The worship service will be led by Seacoast Church, Manning.
