Harvin Clarendon County Library board meets Sept. 20

MANNING - The Harvin Clarendon County Library's Board of Trustees will hold its monthly meeting at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Clarendon County Administration Building, 411 Sunset Drive.

During the meeting, the board will review the library's financial reports for June 2021, July 2021 and August 2021. The board will also receive a staffing update on vacancies.

Clarendon County Historical Society to meet on Sept. 23

MANNING - The Clarendon County Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Clarendon County Administration Building's Council Chambers, 411 Sunset Drive.

Attendees will get to meet Clarendon County's new Miss South Carolina Julia Herrin.

Duckfest Fall Open Team Bass tourney is Sept. 25

SUMMERTON - Duckfest will host its annual Fall Open Team Bass Tournament on Sept. 25 out of John C. Land Landing, 4404 Greenall Road, Summerton, at safe light. The entry fee is $150 plus $10 if you'd like to enter the Big Fish category. The first-place winner will take home $5,000. Blast-off order will be determined by order of entry, so get those entries in early. The tournament features a five-fish limit of black bass only. Duckfest T-shirts on sale

SUMMERTON - The 2021 Summerton Duckfest T-shirts are on sale now at Summerton Drugs and Summerton Hardware.

Youth sizes come in short sleeve for $15 and long sleeve for $20. Adult T-shirts are available for $15 for short sleeve or $25 for long-sleeve shirts.

Duckfest will be held Oct. 9 in Summerton featuring the Duckfest cook-off, parade, a duck calling contest, cornhole tournament, the Ultimate Air Dogs show and dog retriever demonstration.

Council of Garden Clubs host "Color Magic in the Garden" on Oct. 20

MANNING - The Manning Council of Garden Clubs is hosting "Color Magic in the Garden" at 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple St.

The guest speaker for the event is Bryce Lane, a garden enthusiast, nationally renowned lecturer and retired professor from the Department of Horticulture at North Carolina State University.

The event is free and open to the public. COVID protocols will be followed.

Francis Marion Symposium set for Oct. 22 and 23

The two-day event that concludes on Oct. 23 explores the Revolutionary War's Southern Campaign.
