Father's Day Auto, Bike and Golf Carts Show

MANNING - Show off at the first Father's Day Auto, Bike and Golf Carts Show on Saturday, June 18, at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road. The show is sponsored by Monarch Strong Corp.

Along with the "hottest" rides around, folks can enjoy delicious food, lots of games and plenty of music by DJ Soldier Boy. Folks can even check out all the vehicles and festivities from the air when you hop onboard a hot air balloon.

Money from the event will be used for scholarships, back-to-school supplies and hygiene products for Manning school students.

"MSC is proud to announce that the first distribution of scholarships will be granted to qualifying students in June," said Sara Pearson, an alumna of Manning High School and coordinator of public relations for Monarch Strong.

In May 2021, Pearson learned that 25 MHS seniors could not afford neckties and socks for graduation. Pearson said that after discussing the situation with some of her classmates that two of them stepped up and covered those needs. Knowing that problems like this exist, Pearson said that she and other former graduates of MHS founded Monarch Strong Corp., a nonprofit organization that hosts events to generate money for deserving students in Manning.

Preregister your vehicle and/or buy your hot air balloon tickets now by logging on to monarchstrong.com.

Camp Happy Days needs donations

SUMMERTON - Camp Happy Days, a weeklong camp for children with cancer and their siblings, is returning to Camp Bob Cooper the first week in July.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the camp into partial and virtual camps for the past two years, but this year these young cancer patients will be able to enjoy all the fun and festivities that Clarendon County has to offer.

The camp can't happen without the help of the community. Camp Happy Days is in dire need of funds, especially to cover the rising costs of food and other supplies.

If you would like to help make this year's camp a success for these youngsters and teens, please send a donation to Bill Ellis, 1358 Sportsman Drive, Manning SC 29102. Please make the check payable to: Camp Happy Days.

If you would like more information, please call Ellis, who has been volunteering with Camp Happy Days for more than three decades, at (803) 460-7666.
