Clarendon county Recreation Department fall sports registration begins July 31

CLARENDON COUNTY - Registration for the Clarendon County Recreation Department soccer, tackle football, flag football, girls volleyball and golf programs will be held from July 31 to Aug. 18.

Registration at the Manning office at J.C. Britton Park, 3057 Raccoon Road, will be accepted from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Registration at the Turbeville office at Smith Field, 1380 Gamble St., will be accepted from 1 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Children can also be registered online at https://clarendon.recdesk.com/Community/Home.

Harvin Clarendon County Library hosts Paint & Sip July 15

MANNING - The Harvin Clarendon County Library will be hosting Paint & Sip any time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the library, 215 N. Brooks St.

The event is limited to the first 40 adults. Non-alcoholic drinks will be served.

Meet MPD officers at Manning's Summer Fun

MANNING - Manning and Team Manning are sponsoring Summer Fun at the parks throughout the city on Thursdays in July.

Summer Fun will begin at 6 p.m. July 20 at Gibbons Street Park.

Frozen pops and picnic goodies will be served free of charge, while supplies last. All attendees will get a chance to visit with Manning Police Department's officers.

Bring a chair and enjoy the fun.

Let's Read Clarendon at Walker Gamble Park on July 19 and 26

NEW ZION - Let's Read Clarendon will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Walker Gamble Park, 2358 Walker Gamble Road.

Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley will be the guest on July 19 and Young Miss Teen Clarendon County Lexi Goff on July 26.

Children can bring their own books or choose one from the park's mini library.

Everyone is welcome to attend each event.

Back-to-school events

TURBEVILLE

The Back to School Bash hosted by East Clarendon teacher and coach LaQuan Barnes and the Town of Turbeville will be held from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Turbeville Town Square. There will be free food, inflatables, games, free haircuts and free school supplies. Be sure to stick around for Screen on the Green and enjoy a free movie on the square. SUMMERTON

Back 2 School, a free Summerton community event, sponsored by the Summerton Police Department, Police Chief Donell Dixon and the Town of Summerton, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the gymnasium at 1143 4th St. There will be lots of free food, backpacks and school supplies, while they last. Donations can be made payable to Town of Summerton and dropped off at the Summerton Police Department or Town Hall.

MANNING

The Back 2 School Backpack Giveaway is set from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Manning Elementary School's gymnasium, 311 W. Boyce St. Backpacks and supplies will be given away. Music, games, prizes, free food for students, face painting and more can be enjoyed. Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed while they last. Students must be present to receive items. The Back 2 School Cookout presented by Jason Sarita and Tburr will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at J.C. Britton Park, 8497 Raccoon Road. One hundred backpacks will be given away along with supplies for all grades.
